Abstract

Discovering effective compounds to control insects is not the only focus of the development of plant pesticides. Recently, the trend has been shifted to addressing one or more particular types of phytophagous insects. This study aims to conduct a lab-scale biological study on the function of the root of Derris elliptica (Roxb.) as a pesticide to Scotinophara coartata E1 from attacking rice crops. This study has been carried out by isolating Derris elliptica (Roxb) guided by a biological test. The result of the active extract is alkaloid with concentration 0.1% which can act as biopesticide agents of the Scotinophara coartata E.
