Abstract

The novel metal chelates of 2-(8-quinolinol-5-yl) –methyl amino-5-pyridinyl-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole derivatives (1) has been synthesized and their antimicrobial properties were evaluated. These compounds were synthesized by reaction of 2-(8-quinolinol-5-yl) –methyl amino-5-pyridinyl-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole derivatives (1) with metal acetate and characterized using IR, 1H-NMR and elemental analysis. The synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against microorganism P. Expansum. B. Thiobromine, Nigras pora Sp. T. roseum, A. Niger, B. megaterium, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa and E. coli. All of the compounds are active against the microorganism in which some are exhibited moderate to good activity, whereas some were less active.
