Abstract

Many people with cancer experience multiple stressors that may stem from both the illness and different external factors. When faced with a challenging or traumatic life event such ascancer, people may experience post traumatic growth and/or resilience. To better care for cancer patients, their friends, and family, it is important to understand the elements that may influence resilience and personal growth during the cancer experience. The purpose of this paper is to provide synthesis of the literature related to resilience and post traumatic growth for those with cancer.
