Abstract

A series of 1,2,3-triazolphanes has been synthesized from dialkynes and diazides through copper (I)-catalyzed cycloaddition reaction. The structures of all the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, MS spectral techniques. All the compounds were screened for in vitro antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and antifungal activity against Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. The antimicrobial activity indicated that compounds exhibited good to high activity. Further, compound 3a and 5b displayed promising activity against B. subtilis and E. coli respectively.
