Abstract

Ovarian and appendicular tumors may have similar dissemination patterns, which is the reason of establishing a differential diagnosis between both tumors. Behavior of appendicular tumors differ depending on their histology (adenocarcinoid show more aggressiveness, tendency towards ovarian metastases) but just represent less than a 0.5% of gastrointestinal tumors. We review a case of an appendicular ring cell carcinoma with carcinoid cells to show the agressiveness and the benefit of Hypertermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) in a very rare disease.
