Abstract
The present study was monthly carried out with a commercial trawl vessel fishing in Antalya bay between October 2000 and April 2001. Totally 41 species belonging to 34 families were caught. Of these only 12 species of 9 families have economic value. These species; red mullet (Mullus barbatus), picarel (Spicara smaris), striped mullet (Mullus surmuletus), goldbanded goatfish (Upeneus moluccensis), striped bream (Dentex macrophthalmus), hake (Merluccius merluccius), horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus), bogue (Boops boops), gurnards (Trigla lucerna), brushtooth lizardfish (Saurida undosquamis), commen sole (Solea vulgaris) john dory (Zeus faber), of the species, 9 belong to Atlanto-Mediterranean, 2 Lessepsian and 1 Cosmopolitan. In terms of monthly distribution of economic species, the abundances of red mullet was in October, March, April and striped mullet in November, December and picarel in February.
