Abstract

Chalcones and anthocyanidines represents essential groups of natural products which possess wide range of pharmacological activity such as antibacterial, antitumor, anticancer, antitubercular, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-malarial properties. From the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Bridelia ferruginea Benth, two flavonoids bioactive compounds 6, 4l dihydroxy 3l propen chalcones and 4l propenoxy 7–hydroxy anthocyanidines were isolated. The structures of these flavonoids were characterized on the basis of their IR, NMR and MS spectroscopic data
