Influence of Zn2+ on the corrosion inhibition of adipic acid

P. Satyabama, R. Joseph Rathis

Abstract

The inhibition efficiency of adipic acid in control ling corrosion of Aluminium in an aqueous solution at pH 10, in the absence and presence of Zn 2+ has been evaluated by weight loss method. The form ulation consisting of 250 ppm of adipic acid and 50 ppm of Zn 2+ has 98% corrosion inhibition efficiency. A synergi stic effect exits between adipic acid and Zn 2+ . The protective film has been analyzed by UV-vi sible absorption spectroscopy and Fluorescence spectra
