Abstract
Two mild, stable and new chromium (VI) reagents from trimethylamine are described. Orange trimethylammonium fluorochromate (VI) (CH3)3NH[CrO3F], (TriMAFC), and trimethylammonium chlorochromate (VI) (CH3)3NH[CrO3Cl], (TriMACC), are easily prepared in a nearly quantitative yield by the interaction of trimethylamine with CrO3, alumina and related acid. These reagents are versatile reagents for the effective and selective oxidation of organic substrates, in particular for alcohols, under mild conditions
