Abstract
The present study was aimed to formulate the buccoadhesive tablet of atenolol by adopting Box- Behnken factorial design and using chotosan, carbopol 937P and CMC Na. The formulations were evaluated for drug content, hardness, thickness, friability, weight variation, invitro dissolution study and ex-vivo bioadhesive strength and time. The in vitro dissolution study showed higher and controlled drug release. The ex-vivo bioadhesion studies of formulations on sheep buccal mucosa showed better bioadhesion with high bioadhesion time.
