Abstract
This study examined the economic assessment of yam production in Kabba- Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria. Data used for the study were obtained using structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was administered to 150 randomly selected yam farmers in the area. Descriptive statistics, multiple regression and gross margin (GM) analysis were used to analyze the data. The regression result showed that, farm income (2.778), age (1.820) and education level (2.334) have significant effects on yam output in the area. The GM analysis also revealed that, yam production is profitable in the study area with an average profit of N 121,200 ha-1 . It was therefore recommended that, farm inputs be made available to farmers at subsidized prices as a way of improving income from yam production.
