Abstract

Vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent in general population and patients with Chronic Kidney Disease [1]. The deficiency of nutritional form of vitamin D including 25OH Vit D and its hormonal form (1,25OHVit D), is common in patients with CKD. Vitamin D deficiency is traditionally associated with hyperparathyroidism and renal bone disease; however, we all know that besides being a calcium hormone, Vit D plays a crucial role in preventing cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, autoimmune disease, glucose control, and protecting kidneys.
