Abstract

Ultrasonic velocity (U), density (r) and viscosity (h) have been measured for polyethylene glycols ( PEG 4000 & 6000) in two solvents namely water and chloroform at 303, 313 and 323 K. Using the experimental values, the adiabatic compressibility (b), free length (Lf), acoustic impedance (Z), free volume(Vf), internal pressure (pi) and cohesive energy were calculated. The variations of these parameters have been discussed in the light of intermolecular interactions.
