Abstract
A simple and practical procedure for the conversion of penicilloic acid derivatives (2a-e) into corresponding penilloic acid derivatives (3a-e) by using mild reduced pressure (vacuum) in presence of inorganic acid either in water or in a mixture of water and water miscible organic solvent is described in high yields. The method is able to isolate the penilloic acid derivatives in pure form without further purification.
